- Bringing textbooks to class:
You will need to bring the Active Learning Guide ("ALG") to
lecture, lab, and recitation each week. You'll only
need Physics: A General Introduction ("PAGI") in recitation
and when you are working on homework.

- Registration:
If you have a scheduling conflict and need to get a special
permission number to change your recitation or lab section
the person to contact is Julia Sotory
(jsotory@physics.rutgers.edu). She's the undergraduate
secretary of the Dept. of Physics and Astronomy. Explain to
her what your situation is and she'll do what she can to
help you out. But, it really needs to be a scheduling
conflict. If you are just trying to switch
to make your schedule more convenient you'll need to make
the change through the online system. I realize all
sections are full at the moment though.

- Welcome to Physics for
Sciences I: My name is Michael Gentile and
I'm the instructor for the course. All the information
you'll need about the course can be found on this website,
so have a look around and read through everything. I'll be
using this page to make announcements so check back
frequently. Feel free to ask me any questions you have by
email or IM. I'm also the
website administrator, so if you have any suggestions about
how to improve the site, or notice any problems with it
please let me know.
- Registration:
When you register for the course make sure you register for
both a recitation and a lab. You must register for both
since the lab/recitation/lecture are completely integrated.
Even though it is a single course you do have to
specifically register for both a recitation and a lab.
- This week:
Lecture and labs
will meet this
coming week starting Wednesday, Sept. 3rd. Recitations
will NOT meet this coming week. Recitations start
the following Monday, Sept. 8th.
- Important required reading:
A few important documents have been posted above. Please
download and read them right away.
- Scientific abilities
rubrics: You will learn about these in
lecture and lab this week. They are available for
download, so feel free to have
a look at them ahead of time. You will use these to guide
you in learning the scientific reasoning abilities that are
a primary focus of the course. They will also be used to
grade your lab work.
- Gradebook: The online gradebook is up.
Click on the "Gradebook" tab above to access it. Login
information can be found on the
course info page.
