Wire and horseshoe magnet: Qualitative Testing Experiment
Aim
Predict what will happen to a wire placed between the poles of a horseshoe magnet when the switch is closed.

Description of the Experiment
A wire, connected to a DC power supply is placed inbetween the poles of the horseshoe magnet. Watch the first part of the video and then stop it before the switch is closed. Use your model of how currents and magnets interact to predict what will happen to the wire when the switch is closed and the circuit is completed. What happens if the current is reversed? Then watch the rest of the video.
Addtional Information
The part of the magnet painted white is the south pole. The part painted red is the north pole.
