How far was the ball launched?: Application Experiment
Aim
Estimate how far the ball flew using two independent methods.
Prior Knowledge
- Kinematics of motion with constant velocity and constant acceleration.
- Kinematics of projectile motion.
Description of the Experiment
There are three movies below. The first is a movie of the ball launched straight upwards. The second and third are movies of the same ball being launched with the same spring setting at angles of 30 degress and 45 degrees respectively.
Watch the movies. Decide what information from the movies you can use to estimate how far the ball went. Remember, you need two independent methods.
